Action ...

Want some great, safe, swimming beaches? Keen fisherman? Love to go kayaking? Want a great new place to go scuba diving? Or is snorkelling more your pace?

Whatever your style or hobby, Victor Harbor is the right destination for you.

Swimming

There are beautiful swim-friendly beaches at Kent Reserve and Dump Beach. Encounter Lakes is perfect for the kids with its sheltered waters, grassed area, public toilet and small beach. Casual swimming facilities are also available at Mc Cracken Country Club

Surfing

Experienced surfers will know all about Waitpinga and Parsons beaches, both enjoying some of the country's most reliable surf-breaks; beginners will prefer the beaches between Victor Harbor and Port Elliot. Surf Schools have equipment and lessons to suit all ages.

Kayaking

Kayaking trips depart daily during summer, from the Victor Harbor Boat Ramp (bookings essential, subject to weather & minimum of 6 people); your guide can show you Wright Island and Encounter Bay with a strong likelihood of meeting dolphins, seals and penguins. If you have your own kayak, Encounter Lakes offers sheltered waters.

Fishing

Whether you're into boats and bag limits or simply like to wet a line now and again, you'll love the fishing at Victor Harbor.

Prize fishing spots include the Causeway Jetty (Map Ref : H6), Breakwater (Map Ref : H8), Granite Island (Map Ref : G7), the Bluff Jetty (Map Ref : B8 ), Hindmarsh (Map Ref : J5) and Inman Rivers (Map Ref : F5) - good for bream, garfish, tommy ruffs, squid, mullet, whiting, flathead, salmon trout and mulloway; beach fishermen do well at Waitpinga and Parsons Beach, reeling in salmon, salmon trout, mullet and mulloway. Fishing charters, tackle and bait are available.

Scuba Diving

The Bluff's rocky reefs are great for scuba diving learners and experienced divers, with depths ranging from 3 -12 metres. There's an excellent variety of sea life, but the most prized sighting is the fabulous leafy sea-dragon and its close relative, the weedy dragon. A reef running between The Bluff and Wright Island offers reef structures, undercuts and holes.

Snorkeling

Snorkeling can be enjoyed directly out from Kent Reserve, out from the Causeway and off the Bluff Jetty. Keep an eye out for those sea dragons ...
